Status Check

About Us

Status Check is an independent publisher of plain-language guides for people in South Africa. We write for people who have typed a status check question into a search bar and found the answer confusing, scattered, or buried in jargon. Our job is to explain, in plain language, how these processes generally work.

We do not check statuses

This site provides information only. We cannot access anyone's records or check your status for you — only the organisation handling your matter can do that.

Why we exist

Many official processes are described in technical or legal language that is hard to follow. We exist to translate common status check questions into clear, practical guides, so readers understand the general steps, timelines, and terminology before they go to the organisation that actually handles their matter.

How our guides are researched and updated

Our guides are researched from publicly available information and common reader questions. Each guide is reviewed by an editor for clarity and accuracy before publication, and guides are periodically checked and updated when processes or terminology commonly change, so the information stays current and useful.

What we are not

Status Check cannot check anyone's status. We are not linked to, affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any company, organisation, government department, or authority. We do not have access to any case, account, or application systems. For anything related to an actual status, application, or case, readers should always go directly to the organisation responsible for that matter.
